Questions & Answers
Q. Our company is part of a much larger organization. Can we submit our own application?
“Business operations with self-contained, auditable EHS and business performance measurements” may apply for the Award. Therefore, separate case studies may be submitted for independent business units/subsidiaries of a parent company, provided each operates regularly as an identifiable and cohesive business.
To further encourage participation by smaller operations, organizations will compete based on their size category:
- Category I - Enterprises with more than 1000 employees, and subsidiaries of such enterprises
- Category II - Enterprises with up to 1000 employees
Q. Should the submittals address how EHS is managed organization-wide or should they address only one specific activity/experience?
Through the Robert W. Campbell Award, we are examining EHS as an important part of a comprehensive management system. In other words, the Award is seeking more encompassing corporate systems of EHS and business management, rather than intervention-based efforts.
Q. What is meant by “narrative” submittal?
For the Robert W. Campbell Award, we are seeking examples of business operating systems in which EHS is part of a comprehensive management system. These narratives are evidence-based success stories in which an organization conveys how its well-integrated EHS management system led to success in EHS and enhanced business productivity. These successes must be demonstrated through measurable EHS performance, productivity, and profitability. Therefore submittals will also include documented performance metrics, including associated data, figures, and charts. They are not technical research papers, but rather practical, narratives written for EHS and business professionals.
